چکیده

Ketamine cystitis (KC) is a chronic bladder inflammation leading to urinary urgency, frequency, and pain. The pathogenesis of KC complicated involves multiple tissue injuries in the bladder. Recent studies indicated that urothelium disruption, lamina propria fibrosis inflammation, microvascular injury, neuropathological alterations, smooth muscle (BSM) abnormalities all contribute KC. has been shown induce these by regulating different signaling pathways. can stimulate antiproliferative factor, adenosine triphosphate, oxidative stress disrupt urothelium. Lamina are associated with activation cyclooxygenase-2, nitric oxide synthase, immunoglobulin E, transforming growth factor ?1. contributes injury via N-methyl-D aspartic receptor (NMDAR), inflammatory angiogenic factors such as tumor necrosis ? vascular endothelial factor. For BSM abnormalities, ketamine depress protein kinase B, extracellular signal-regulated kinase, Cav1.2, muscarinic signaling. Elevated purinergic also plays role abnormalities. [Cystitis and ketamine associated bladder dysfunction].

OBJECTIVES To analyze the prevalence of lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) in recreational ketamine users and evaluate its relationship with the consumption pattern. MATERIAL AND METHODS Evaluation of 13 ketamine users. The presence of LUTS, gross hematuria and lumbar spine pain was analyzed. The ketamine usage pattern was recorded: initiation, administration route, dose in the last month an...

Mesenchymal stem cells protect against the tissue fibrosis of ketamine-induced cystitis in rat bladder

Abuse of the hallucinogenic drug ketamine promotes the development of lower urinary tract symptoms that resemble interstitial cystitis. The pathophysiology of ketamine-induced cystitis (KC) is largely unknown and effective therapies are lacking. Here, using a KC rat model, we show the therapeutic effects of human umbilical cord-blood (UCB)-derived mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs). Daily injection ...

Changes to the bladder epithelial barrier are associated with ketamine-induced cystitis

The aim of the present study was to investigate the changes of the bladder epithelial barrier in the pathogenesis of ketamine-induced cystitis (KIC). A total of 60 female mice were randomly allocated into control and ketamine groups, which received daily intraperitoneal injections of saline and ketamine, respectively. Micturition behavior was recorded in 2-h intervals at the end of 4, 8 and 12 ...

Effective treatment of ketamine-associated cystitis with botulinum toxin type a injection combined with bladder hydrodistention

Objective Ketamine-associated cystitis (KAC) has been described in a few case reports, but its treatment in a relatively large number of patients has not been documented. This study aimed to describe our experience of treatment of 36 patients with KAC. Methods Thirty-six patients (30 males and 6 females, aged 19-38 years) with KAC, who had previously taken a muscarinic receptor blocker and/or a...

The Immunomodulatory Imbalance in Patients with Ketamine Cystitis

The pathogenesis of ketamine cystitis (KC) has been recently linked with immune response to patients but the same has not yet been established. Hence, this study aims to propose a possible immune mechanism of irreversible bladder damage caused by KC. A total of 53 KC patients and 21 healthy volunteers as controls have been retrospectively assessed. The levels of serum immunoglobulin E (IgE), IL...
